The Mastering Chemistry Webpage

The publishing company has changed slightly The Mastering Chemistry Webpage after instructions for logging-in were prepared and mailed out to you. Therefore, the first few steps for logging-in given in the document entitled 'Unit Outline' are no longer valid. Please note you now only need to log in to the webpage

http://www.masteringchemistry.com

and then register as a new student using the access code that came with your textbook. Follow instructions given in 'Unit OUtline' to access 'CBMS101X'.

If you are a repeating student, you should be able to use the access code that came with the textbook you bought in March this year. Please let me know if you have any problems using the old access code.

Welcome to the external offering of CBMS101 in Second Semester of 2008. I hope all of you have had a good break after finishing your examinations in First Semester. If you are a new student, welcome to Macquarie University.

Please note that the Open Education Centre would have mailed out a package consisting of 6 items to you on July 14. The 6 items are: (1) Unit Outline, (2) Syllabus, (3) Tutorial Schedule, (4) Important Dates, etc, (5) Program for First On-Campus Session, (6) 6 Assignment Folders. If you have not received these items or if any one of them is missing from your package, please enquire at the Open Education Centre and they will be able to help you out.

Note that the first On-Campus Session is on August 16 and August 17. You are now able to download lecture notes and lecture recordings by clicking the 'login' button in the left hand panel. To prepare for the first On-Campus Session, please listen to the lecture recordings and also complete the pre- laboratory work for Experiment 1 and Experiment 2. In this way, we will be able to focus on any questions that you may have during your self-study.

Please do not hesitate to contact me by phone, e-mail or just knock on my door if you have any questions before August 11.

I look forward to meeting you all on August 16.
