Exam Revision Using Mastering Chemistry

All 6 quizzes have been made available for students to use as revision for final exam. There has also been added 'More Practice Questions' containing an assortment of questions for use as final revision. Don't forget Q and A session on Thursday 11th June

LAST WEEKS OF CBMS101

CBMS101 lectures have now finished for the semester but pracs, tutorials and PAL sessions continue normally until the end of next week, week 13. There will be a voluntary Q and A session (with me as Tony Jones) for exam preparation on Thursday June 13th 10-12 in E7BT5. Bring all your questions along for last minute help

QUIZ 4

Two of the gas questions in Quiz 4 use pressure units of atm and so require the Universal Gas constant of 0.08206 L atm K-1 mol-1 to be used.

NUMERACY CENTRE WORKSHOP - TUESDAY 7TH APRIL

Carolyn Kennett wil be conducting the second workshop on moles and molarity for CBMS101 at 1 pm on Tuesday 7th April in W5C 312. Take along any problems for assistance with mathematics.

MID-SEMESTER TEST - WEDNESDAY 8TH APRIL

The test will be held at 10 am and will last 45 minutes. Lecture material up to and including chapter 6 of text book will be examined. Students are allocated rooms as follows: surnames Abbott - Ciano E6A 102, Clarke - Figenschou E7B 354, Finianous - Hennessy E7B 308, Hill - Zylstra E7B T1 (Mason). Writing implements and calculators will be required for the test.

PEER ASSISTED LEARNING (PAL) SESSIONS

PAL sessions will be held every lunch time, 1-2 pm in the following rooms. Mondays and Fridays E7B 163 and 164; Tuesdays C5A 313 and E7B 164; Wednesdays E5A 107 and E4B 314; and Thursdays E7B 164. Students are encouraged to attend at least one session per week.

LABORATORY CLASSES BEGIN IN WEEK 2

 Week A laboratory classes begin 2nd March (week 2). Students must come to the laboratory (E7B 308 entrance from balcony) prepared with lab notes (with completed pre-lab exercise), lab coat and covered feet. Safety glasses are supplied.

DUPLICATE LECTURES

Due to the large number of CBMS101 students this semester I will be giving duplicate lectures on Monday at 1 pm in Mason Theatre (E7B T1) and Wednesday at 12 noon in E7B T5. The earlier lectures will be recorded and available on the CBMS101 website. The duplicate lectures may be discontinued if student numbers decline and all students can be seated in Mason Theatre for the earlier lecture.

NEW TUTORIAL SLOT AND CHANGE OF VENUE FOR FRIDAY TUTORIAL

There is now a tutorial available at 3 pm on Wednesdays in C5A 401. Please join this class if it suits your timetable.

The 3 pm Friday tutorial will be held in E6A 131 for the semester while repairs are carried out in E7B 164.

Welcome to CBMS101 for 2009, hope you all had a great Summer vacation.

Lectures and tutorials begin on Monday 23rd February ie. in Week 1. Please check your tutorial room ON THIS CBMS101 WEBSITE as some allocated rooms have changed. Normal laboratory sessions begin in Week 2

During Week 1, please check either the 1st year notice boards on the 3rd floor E7B, or login and check on-line for your tutorial and practical allocation. If you haven't been allocated a tutorial or practical group please see me in room 333, Building F7B.
