Chemistry & Biomolecular Sciences Scholarship

This scholarship is available to students enrolling in the Bachelor of Science degree undertaking a coherent study in chemistry or in the Bachelor of Science with the Diploma of Chemistry in Industry program. The scholarship is valued at $1000 and is available for up to three years subject to satisfactory progress.

Le Fevre Scholarship

This scholarship is available to full-time students undertaking a Bachelor degree with a coherent study in chemistry. Scholarship recipients will be required to enrol in the following units during the period of the scholarship:

Year 1
CBMS101, CBMS103
Year 2
CBMS204, CBMS207, CBMS208
Year 3
At least 18 credit points of 300 level chemistry including an approved combination of units as defined in The Macquarie University Undergraduate Handbook.

The scholarship is awarded on the academic merit in the Higher School Certificate. It is tenable for three years, subject to satisfactory progress, at the following rates: $2000 in the first year, $2100 in the second year and $2200 in the third year of the scholarship.

CBMS Vacation Research Scholarship

These Scholarships are open to chemistry undergraduate students from any University and available over the summer break (December - February) for four to eight weeks. Applications are assessed on the basis of merit but preference is given to BSc(Advanced Chemistry) students. The Scholarships provide the opportunity for undergraduate students at any level to participate in cutting-edge research in a research group of their choosing. Scholarships are valued at $250 per week.

Undergraduate Prizes

The Le Fevre Memorial Prize for Physical Chemistry
Open to all students proceeding to the degree of Bachelor. Awarded for excellence in physical chemistry at 100 level.
The Le Fevre Memorial Prize for 200-Level Chemistry
Open to all students proceeding to the degree of Bachelor. Awarded for excellence in 200-level chemistry units.
The Macquarie Foundation Science Prize
Open to all students proceeding to the honours degree of Bachelor. Awarded for proficiency in the honours year to a candidate whose work shows outstanding promise in a science discipline and potential for industrial application. Supported by the University's Alumni.
The AstraZeneca Medicinal Chemistry Prize
Open to all students proceeding to the degree of Bachelor. Awarded for proficiency in CHEM339 (Medicinal Chemistry).
The Beckman-Coulter Prize
Open to all students proceeding to the degree of Bachelor. Awarded for proficiency in CHEM332 (Protein Chemistry).
The 3M Pharmaceuticals Prize
Open to all students proceeding to the degree of Bachelor. Awarded for proficiency in 300-level chemistry units totalling at least 12 credit points.
Masson Memorial Scholarship Prize
The Scholarship Prize, given by the Royal Australian Chemical Insitute (RACI), which has been established as a memorial to the late Sir David Orme Masson, Founder of the Institute, is open to any financial Member of the Institute or to any registered financial Student of the Institute, who has attained the academic qualification of BSc or its equivalent, and who is eligible to proceed for a further year's study of Chemistry at BSc Honours level.
The Royal Australian Chemical Institute NSW Analytical Chemistry Prize
Open to all students proceeding to the degree of Bachelor. Awarded for proficiency in the unit CHEM325 Chemical Analysis II. $500
The Royal Australian Chemical Institute Student Prize
